Burn Cottage's Pinot Noir is crafted from carefully selected blocks within Burn Cottage's estate vineyards located in the premium Cromwell Basin sub-region of Central Otago.
The vineyard site is much coveted in the region, as it is sheltered from northerly and southerly winds by large hills and forms a beautiful, protected bowl, like an amphitheatre. The winemaking reflects owners' biodynamic principles with low intervention, hand harvesting, no addition of yeasts or bacteria for fermentation, and no filtration to keep all the character in.
Enticing layers of floral, berry and spice notes complement earthy aromatics of wet stone and black tea. With time in the glass deeper savoury notes and richness from the whole cluster use emerge. This vintage has shown wonderful finesse from the outset, with silky texture and an attractive seamlessness throughout. Focused and very elegant, the wine has fine persistent tannins extending to a harmonious finish.
